Shakopee Indians vs Chanhassen Red Birds

Tuesday July 8, 2014 7:30PM

Returning healthy after a long holiday break and ready for some action, the local 9 hosted the Red Birds from "across the river and up the hill".  

After a quiet first inning, the Indians struck first in the 2nd.  Troy Wasiloski and Zach Bohar each coaxed 1-out walks.  After a strike out, Matt Conrad laced a full count 2-out fastball to the right center gap scoring both Wasiloski and Bohar.  

Things were quiet until the 6th when the Tribe would strike again.  The Indians scored three runs highlighted by an Alex Bade double and Matt Conrad's second double of the night.  

The two runs would be enough for Johnny Hellkamp, the Indians starting pitcher this night, to pitch comfortably with a lead.  The Indians defense along with Johnny keeping hitters off balance kept the Red Birds off the board until the 7th inning.  

Chase Hentges pitched the final two frames in relief facing the minimum amount of batters.  The game ended with a nifty 3-6-3 double play.

Matt Conrad reached base 3 times and drove in four runs taking home the offensive player of the game.
