St Louis Park takes down Indians 5-3.
Just over a week after the Indians had defeated Park 5-1 in game one of the Coor's Light Classic, SLP came back to The Joe and extracted revenge by a 5-3 margin.
Park scored an unearned run in the 2nd, and the Indians got a freebie of their own in the bottom of the 4th to knot this one up 1-1. SLP came out swinging in the 6th with a base hit, 2 run homer and a solo bomb to jump on top 4-1. Shakopee answered right back with 2 runs on a Zak Hoffman shot to left center to get this one back to a one run game. Park tacked on a single run in the top of the 9th for the final margin. The home team managed to load the bases with no outs in the bottom of the 9th, but 3 straight whiffs snuffed the last gasp rally.
Chris Rupert, Nate Brown and Andy Gibart each pitched 3 innings for the boys in blue. Browny was tagged with the loss.
Zak Hoffman and Aaron Olson each had 2 hits to pace the offense with Hoffman knocking in the only 2 ribbies of the night.
The Indians now gear up for the section playoffs with 5 section games over the next 2 weeks to determine who their playoff opponent will be come post season play. It all starts with a road trip to Poppitz Field in Victoria on Tuesday night at 7:30 PM.
