Indians squeak by the Cubs in 12 innings 6-5.
It was a beautiful night for baseball, a large crowd showed up for Indian Alumni night, and they were treated to some free baseball as the Indians sent their alumni home with smiles on their faces.
It was Ohnsorg vs Rupert again in a rematch of an early season battle that the local 9 won by a 2-1 score. The Cubs plated the first run in the top of the third on a solo homer, and the Indians responded with a 2 out 2 run triple off the bat of Mark Dolenc in the bottom of the third. Shakopee added two more in the bottom of the 5th on a missile off the bat of Zak Hoffman that left the park in a hurry.
The scored stayed 4-1 into the 7th when the Cubbies took advantage of a Shakopee miscue then saw Justin Johnson nail his 2nd homer of the game to tie this one up with his 3 run shot. Neither team would score again until a pass ball gave the Cubs a one run lead in the 11th. The Indians answered in the bottom half when Zach Bohar turned around a fastballl for a solo homerun. We are all tied up at 5.
The Indians would tally the game winner in the bottom of the 12th using a single, an error, a couple walks and a Kyle Ryan bases loaded single to claim victory 6-5.
Off to Prior Lake on Sunday at 6 PM before playoff action begins on August 8th.
