Game 3 of best of 5 series
Indians win 8-3 to sweep Cubbies and grab a spot in the Class B state tournament.
The Shakopee Indians defeated the Chaska Cubs for the third straight game to complete the series sweep and earn a return trip to the Class B state tournament.
Pat Lenton took the ball and battled in and out of trouble for most of his 6 innings. Lenny only allowed 3 runs (2 earned) as he repeatedly showed the ability to make the big pitch and wiggle out of tough situations. Nate Brown came on in relief and tossed 3 shutout innings to get the save.
Shako was down 1-0 after a half inning but tied it up on a 2 out double from Zak Hoffman. The Indians took the lead for good in the bottom of the 2nd with RBI singles from Kyle Ryan and Brandon Olson and a defensive miscue by the Cubs. The locals added a run in the 3rd on a leadoff triple by Chase Hentges and a SAC fly by Aaron Olson. The Cubs closed the gap to 5-3 after 5 before Shako responded with single runs in the 6th, 7th and 8th innings to salt this one away.
The Indians now await the Victoria/Prior Lake series winner for a seeding game on Sunday at 2 PM. That series is 2-1 in favor of the Vics at this time.
See you Sunday-go Indians!
