Shakopee Indians vs Forest Lake Brewers

1st Round State Tournament

Tuesday August 24, 2014 7:30PM

Indians slug there way to first round win over Forest Lake.

Ths Shakopee Indians found themselves down 3-0 after an inning to the Forest Lake Brewers. The Indians bats woke up in a huge way scoring 6 runs in the top of two and followed it up with a 5 spot in the 3rd to grab an 11-5 lead after 3 innings.  Shakopee would add single runs in the 5th and 6th innings then scored two more in the 7th for the final margin of 15-5 in a game shortened to 7 innings due to the 10 run rule.

Lefty Chris Rupert started on the bump for the Indians and after a rough 1st inning, Rupe settled down to allow just 2 more runs over his last 4 innings of work. On the night he went 5 innings allowing 4 earned runs to get the victory. Sheldon Miks tossed the last 2 innings of scoreless ball and mixed in 3 strikeouts to close this one out.

There were plenty of offensive heroes on this night as the Indians scored the 15 runs on 16 hits and belted 4 homeruns. Kyle Ryan had 3 hits and scored 3 runs, Chase Hentges had 2 hits and 4 ribbies,  Mark Dolenc had 3 hits scored and drove in 3 a piece and added a homerun, Aaron Olson had 3 hits including a homerun, Zach Bohar had 3 hits including a homerun and drove in 3 and Zak Hoffman added a 3 run homerun as well.

Shakopee now moves into the quarterfinal round of the Class B state tournament.  Their next game will be on Friday in Belle Plaine at 5 PM against the Moorhead Brewers.

Hope to see you at Tiger Park to support the Indians!
