Shakopee Indians vs Mankato Twins

Saturday June 27th 3:00PM

The Indians faced off against the Mankato Twins as a part of the Town Ball Classic at Target Field on a beautiful Saturday afternoon for a ball game. Chris Rupert took the hill for the Indians looking to improve his record to 5-0. The Indians struck first in the 3rd inning when Mark Dolenc hit a 2 out triple to the gap in right center field. He then came in to score on an error by the Mankato short stop. Mankato scored a run in the top of the 5th on a triple and a sacrifice fly.

Both pitchers dueled out a 1-1 ball game until the 9th when Mankato scored 2 unearned runs with 2 outs in the inning. Shakopee came to the plate looking to make a comeback. Troy Wasiloski walked to start the inning and was pinch run for by Tom Hellkamp. Zach Bohar stuck out and Alex Bade flied out to right advancing the runner to 3rd. John Hellkamp hit a double down the right field line to put the Indians within 1 run of the Twins, however, Jake Rhinesmith grounded out to end the ball game. Chris Rupert went all 9 and pitched a stellar game, but takes the loss, his first of the year.
