Shakopee Indians vs Prior Lake Jays

Friday July 31st 7:30PM

The Indians took on the Jays in Prior Lake on Friday night. Chris Rupert started on the mound for the Indians. Shakopee got off to an early 1-0 lead when Mark Dolenc scored on a Troy Wasiloski double. The Jays came back quickly with a run of their own in the bottom of the 1st. The game stayed tied at 1 until the 5th when Wasiloski drove in another run with a single. The Indians tacked on another run in the 6th when Kyle Ryan drove in Jake Rhinesmith with a single. Prior Lake scored a run in the bottom of the 6th and 1 in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game at 3 and take it to extra innings. Rupert went 9 innings allowing just 1 earned run.

Nate Brown took the mound for Shakopee in the 10th. Neither team was able to put across a run until the 14th as Brown pitched well for 4 innings. In the top of the 14th, Aaron Olson hit a solo homerun to give the Indians the lead. Troy Wasiloski hit a triple and Zach Bohar crushed a 2 run homer to give the Indians a 6-3 lead going into the bottom of the 14th. Brown walked the first 2 batters and Aaron Olson came in to try and shut the door. A flyout to right field left the Jays with runners on first and second and 1 out. A single and a ground out made the game 6-4 with 2 outs and runners on 2nd and 3rd. A wild pitch put the tying run on 3rd, but Luke Bruss, after pinch running for Wasiloski in the 14th, fielded a ground ball at 3rd and threw a strike to first to end the game with Shakopee on top.  Aaron Olson gets the save and Nate Brown takes the win in a game that lasted 4 hours. Shakopee is now 7-4 in section play, tied for 1st place in the section.
