Shakopee Indians vs Jordan Brewers

Sunday May 1st 2:00PM

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, the Shakopee Indians took on the Jordan Brewers in Jordan to open the 2016 season. Chris Rupert took the hill for the Indians. In the 1st, the Brewers took an early 1-0 lead with an unearned run off Rupert. Shakopee came storming back in the top of the 2nd with 3 runs when John Hellkamp singled home Alex Bade to tie the game. Brandon Olson drove a 2 run double to give the Indians the 3-1 lead. In the top of the 3rd, the Indians broke the game wide open. Walks to Kyle Green and Alex Bade and a single by new Indians Mitch Sellers loaded the bases. Green scored on a wild pitch. Greg Campbell was hit by a pitch followed by a John Hellkamp single to knock in another run. Kyle Ryan was walked to score another run and Brandon Olson hit a bases clearing double scoring 3 more runs. Aaron Olson followed with a homerun giving the Indians 8 runs for the inning and an 11-1 lead. In the 4th, Shakopee added another run on Hellkamp, Ryan, and Brandon Olson singles, Olsons 6th RBI of the game, giving the Indians a 12-1 lead. New Indian, Aaron Johnson, pitched the 5th, 6th, and 7th innings striking out 6 on his way to the 3 inning save as Shakopee wins their 1st game of the year 12-1. Brandon Olson went 3 for 3 with 6 RBI, John Hellkamp tallied 4 hits and scored 3 times and Kyle Ryan also had a multi-hit game. Shakopee takes on Belle Plaine on Sunday May 8th in Shakopee at 2pm for their next game.
