The Indians start the season off in the right direction!

Going into the first game of the season, new manager Brannon Weigel said that everyone on the team would get playing time. He kept to his word. All 17 Shakopee Indian players that were at the game played.

Tim Theis started on the hill for the locals and went for two scoreless innings.  DJ Busch came to pitch the third and had trouble finding the strike zone.  Waconia Lakers scored three runs in the third. The Indians responded in the fourth with a two RBI double by Troy Wasiloski and a RBI double by Brannon Weigel. This made the score after three tied at 3-3.

In the top of the fifth inning with runners on the corners, Lance Sideow kept the ball in play for a RBI.  After giving up a lead-off walk, Brett Weigel Jr found his curve ball in the sixth for a one-two-three inning. (Score was 4-4)

In the seventh, Shakopee capitalized on a few Waconia errors.  Rookie Aaron Olson smashed his first hit with a RBI double upping the score to 6-4.  Nate Brown made quick work on the mound in the seventh and eighth.

The Indians added four runs in the ninth. A 25 pound slimmer Dan Collins closed the game for a 10-4 win.

Congratulations to rookie Indian Mike Anderson with his first career hit as well as first managerial wins for Brannon Weigel and Curt Hartfiel.

The Indians will now have home games on both Wednesday vs. Burnsville, and Sunday vs. Henderson.
