Game 6: Sunday, May 16, 2010
As the team bus traveled back east down Highway 19, Indians manager Brannon Weigel pondered what kind of lineup to make who is in good enough shape to handle two games in the field. As it turned out, there were not a lot of options as the dugout wasn’t really full. If you showed up, you were playing! Kyle Green started for the Indians on the bump in game 2 of the twin-bill. Feeling pressure from the pitching performance in game 1, KG followed suit tossing 5 innings of two-hit ball allowing one run while whiffing 8 Islander hitters. KG didn’t allow a hit until there was one out in the 4th inning. Jordan Triestram took the ball in the 6th and closed the door the rest of the way. JT didn’t have his best stuff but walked just one batter and did great pitching to contact keeping the Indians defense in the game. He allowed one earned run giving up three hits. The Indians hitters played pepper with the outfield fence most of the game. Ten hits in all for the Indians sticks five went for extra bases including home runs by Brandon Olson in the 3rd and Brannon Weigel in the 9th. While the bats seemed lively, the runs on the scoreboard were not quite as lively. With one run in the 2nd, two in the 3rd, and one each in the 4th, 5th, and 9th innings, the offense scored just enough to keep the Islanders out of reach. Shakopee had just enough gas in the tank to cruise to a win in game two. KG getting the win and Weigel, Mike Anderson, and Curt Hartfiel pacing the offense with multiple hits in this game. One more tune-up game Tuesday night at “The Joe”. The local nine look to stay on a roll versus a good Rosemount squad. We hope to see you fill the stands on what looks to be a beautiful night for a ballgame!
