Game 7: Tuesday, May 18, 2010
The Indians faced the Rosemount Black Sox on a fine night for a ballgame. The Indians were looking to extend their longest winning streak of the season two games against a state tournament caliber Rosemount team. The story of the game again for the Indians was some excellent pitching and timely hitting which is a pretty good formula for winning games. The Shakopee offense didn’t take long to get going. Capitalizing on two walks and a wild pitch to start the second inning, Andrew Zellmann doubled home Chris Baso and Kyle Hoover to take a 2-0 lead. A lead they wouldn’t relinquish. In all the offense would collect 10 runs on 14 hits from 10 different batters. Six different batters would collect at least one RBI in a very balanced offensive attack. In the post-game news conference, Manager Brannon Weigel stated, “These guys are really making my job easy. It really doesn’t matter who I plug in the lineup. Everyone is finding a way to get the job done.” Troy Wasiloski and Kyle Hoover led the hitting parade with three hits a piece on the night. On the defensive side, Tim Piechowski started his third game of the year and appeared in mid-season form keeping the Black Sox hitters off balance. Pie surrendered just one run on three hits in six innings of work. DC came in to pitch the seventh and struggled a little bit but got out of a jam minimizing the damages. Then the highly anticipated first appearance of rookie Sam Anderson finished the game pitching two 1-2-3 innings in the 8th and 9th innings. Welcome to the team, Sam! The local nine partake in a home-and-home series this weekend with Section foe Green Isle. Shakopee travels to Green Isle on Friday night and hosts Green Isle on Sunday in an afternoon game. We hope to see your support as we begin an important stretch of games against the tough Section 3B opponents.
