... two home runs, one a grand slam. ... 6 RBIs ... first home run of the season. ... 4 RBIs ... pitched 7 innings allowing only one unearned run.

The Shakopee Indians show traveled to Green Isle to take on the Irish Friday night. The game marked the first contest of the Section 3B season for both teams. With both teams having high hopes for the 2010 campaign, starting off on the right foot would be key.

John Schaffler, starting pitcher for Green Isle held the Indians bats at bay for three innings. Aaron Olson led off the 4th inning with a solo homerun to give the Indians a 1-0 lead. Green Isle answered in the bottom half with an unearned run to tie the game at one run a piece. Then the flood gates opened. With the bases full of Indians, AO sent a Schaffler pitch into the trees in left field for a grand slam and a 5-1 lead. Shako added 3 more in the 6th, highlighted by Joey Heller’s first home run of the year, to put the game out of reach while Dane Secott held the Irish hitters at bay. Secott pitched 7 solid innings and was in control the entire night allowing just a single unearned run and surrendering 3 hits while striking out 11 Irish batters. Sam Anderson pitched the final two frames surrendering one run (unearned again) and looked good in his first Section 3B game.
