Game 18: Wednesday, June 9, 2010
Miesville and Shakopee squared off on Wednesday in a mid-season litmus test of two state tournament teams from one year ago. This marked the first time in recent memory that Shakopee was treated to the opportunity to play on the neatly manicured Jack Ruhr Field. The Indians came roaring out of the gate scoring twice in the top of the first when Troy Wasiloski lined a wallscraper over the left field wall and into the corn field. The lead didn’t last long as the Mudhens scored twice in their half of the first off Shakopee starter Chris Rupert. Miesville tacked on three more runs in the third when the plate suddenly became round for a 5-2 lead. That would prove all the offense Miesville would need as the Mudhen pitching staff kept the Indian hitters off balance the rest of the game. Dane Secott relieved Rupert in the 4th inning and kept the Miesville offense in check allowing just four hits and getting five whiffs in the last 5 innings. Shakopee needed to just piece together a few hits to get back in the game but they just couldn’t get any sort of rally going. Miesville walks away from this game 6-2 victors while Shakopee is thinking about the “what ifs”. Joey Heller and Kyle Hoover paced the Indians offensively with two knocks a piece. Wasiloski tallied both RBI and Brannon Weigel reached base three times via the free pass. WP E.Olson
