Game 20: Friday, June 18, 2010
Shakopee 6 - Jordan 5 (10 innings)

Curt Hartfiel had the game-winning single with 2 outs in the bottom of the 10th

Shakopee rolled out the red carpet for the Indian Alumni Friday night and they turned out in droves for free hamburgers to watch the unveiling of Gary Schleper’s number being retired…and a baseball game.

The Indians and the visiting Brewers from Jordan did not disappoint. True to form for the 10th game in a row, the Indians came out swinging right away and scored four times highlighted by Troy Wasiloski’s 2-RBI triple. Tim Piechowski toed the rubber for the locals and pitched brilliantly. Pie would not allow a hit through 3 2/3 innings. He was left pitching around shoddy defense most of the night. The Indians would commit three errors on the night. The third error of the night came in the 8th inning while the Tribe held a slim 5-3 lead and would lead to Pie’s exit. The Brewers capitalized on every Indian mistake – only one of the Brewers runs were earned.

Dane Secott came in to relieve Piechowski in the 8th and got out of the inning with minimal damage. In the 9th, the plate got round. While Scott Hollingsworth was mowing down Indian hitters in the middle innings, the Brewers were on their way to tie the game in the 9th. One single, two walks and a hit batter plated the tying run for Jordan and the score was knotted at 5-5. Shakopee would threaten in the bottom half of the 9th when Joey Heller led off the inning with a walk but he was left stranded at 2nd base.

In the 10th, the Brewers leadoff batter of the inning walked off reliever Kyle Green. But, KB was able to wiggle out of the jam. In the bottom half of the 10th the Indians would again get the leadoff hitter on base when Brannon Weigel started the inning with a single to right. Two batters later, Curt Hartfiel would rip a shot between the shortstop and third baseman to score pinch runner Jeremy Imker from 3rd base and the Indians win in dramatic fashion!
