Game 22: Sunday, June 20, 2010
Shakopee 12 - Green Isle 2 (7 innings)

Chris Rupert

Brandon Olson

Brannon Weigel
. . . got the win for the Indians. . . . each had 4 hits.

In the third game in as many days for the Indians and sporting the baby blue for Father’s Day, the local nine played host to the Irish from Green Isle. The season series tied at one game a piece, the Indians needed a win to take the all important tie breaker from the Irish who currently hold the second place spot in the section standings. The Indians sent battle tested ace Chris Rupert to the hill while Green Isle countered with their ace, Mac Zachow. This one figured to be a good game.

However, unlike one day ago, the Shakopee offense didn’t sputter one bit today. A little bit peeved at ending the streak of scoring in the first inning one day earlier, the locals looked to start a new streak…and succeeded. Troy Wasiloski knocked in Brandon Olson and one batter later Brannon Weigel came up with a 2-RBI single scoring Aaron Olson and Wasiloski.

Rupert would hold the Irish offensive attack at bay allowing just one run and scattering four hits in 6 innings. Meanwhile the Indians’ offense kept pouring it on scoring at least one run in all but two innings. Led by Brandon Olson and Brannon Weigel with four hits a piece and Curt Hartfiel with three hits, the offense collected 18 safeties on the night.
