You ask, "How have the Indians faired vs Belle Plaine the last few year?" Let me tell you. 2010 @ Shakopee - Indians take a 5-1 lead into the ninth but lose 6-5. 2009 @ Belle Plaine - Indians pitchers toss a 1 hitter but lose 1-0. Troy Wasiloski thrown out at the plate to end the game. 2008 - A sub-.500 Tigers team comes travels to Shakopee. Tim Huber hits a home run and the Tigers rally from behind to win. After the game, the Tigers drink every last beer in the concession stand. From then on, the Tigers are nearly unbeatable making a run deep into the Class C state tournament which ironically is held at Shakopee and Chaska. 2007 @ Belle Plaine. The Tigers 10-run the Indians on a night then Indians manager Gary Schleper still loses sleep over. 2006 @ Shakopee marks the last time the Indians managed to defeat the Tigers.

It's been a long time coming. Exactly three current Indians were around to remember the last victory over the Belle Plaine Tigers five years ago. The 2011 version of the local nine was not about to let history repeat itself. When the Indians scored twice in the top of the first inning, the dugout knew things were about to change as the Indians never score in the first inning. Brandon Olson led off the game with a single and Aaron Olson singled one batter later. Troy Wasiloski drove both home with a double for an early 2-0 lead. In the 2nd inning, the Indians would strike again. Brannon Weigel led off with a single and Andrew Zellmann followed suit. A throwing error scored Weigel and AO singled to drive in Zellmann.

Nate Brown started on the bump and was in top form. Brownie allowed just a run in four innings. Then pitching tryouts started. John Hellkamp was first out of the pen after news finally traveled to the front office that Johnny pitched a fair amount in his high school days. The difference between Johnny and everyone else that has pitched thus far is that high school for Johnny was LAST YEAR! Johnny tossed 3 innings allowing 2 runs - none earned - and earned himself a ticket for another pitching outing in the future. Johnny exited the game with the Indians holding on to a slim 4-3 lead.

Kyle Hoover was begging the loudest to have the next shot at toeing the rubber. Hoover allowed a lead off walk in the 8th. Then got two strikeouts and a popup to end the inning.

In the top of the 9th, the Indians would add one insurance run on a 2-out single by Weigel to score Wasiloski. In the bottom half, Sam Anderson was sent to the hill to close the door. Sam struck out the side to end the game and send the Tribe to victory circle.

The Indians travel to the Mini-Met in Jordan on Friday and Sunday this weekend. At stake is the #2 seed in the section and home-field advantage in the best-of-5 playoff series. Come out to cheer on the Indians as playoff season draws closer! See you Friday night!
