Game 34: Sunday , July 24
Jordan 10 - Shakopee 7

The good news: The Indians scored 6 runs in the 8th to tie the game. The bad news: The Indians allowed 4 unearned runs on three errors in the bottom of the 8th to let this one slip away. "Slip away" is a little of a misnomer as the Tribe really had no business being in this game. The day started off on the wrong foot from the get go when the local 9...errr...8 took the field for ins and outs. The 9th Indian showed up about 5 minutes prior to the aforementioned ins and outs. Promptness and accountability qualities have apparently not been mentioned as very important.

John Hellkamp started on the mound for the Indians today. He was victim of swiss cheese type defense in the first inning that the Indians would never really recover from. Five Brewers came across to score on just 2 hits, 3 walks, and 4 Indian errors. Sitting in a 6-0 deficit after just two innings, the Indians actually put together some solid innings defensively in the middle of the game before the wheels came off the wagon in the 8th. Hellkamp would toss 6 innings allowing just 6 hits. But sitting as the potential loser of record until he helped his own cause in the 8th.

The Indians half of the 8th inning saw the Tribe plate 6 runs to tie the game. Johnny Hellkamp's bases clearing triple tied the game. The Indians were had a small feeling of being able to steal a victory.

However in the Brewers' half of the 8th, the Brewers scored four times (all unearned) helped by three more Indian errors to put the game away.

Kyle Hoover homered in the 9th but that was all the locals could muster.

The Indians take on the Prior Lake Jays twice this week on a rare home and home series on consecutive days. Monday @ Shakopee, Tuesday @ Prior Lake. Come out to watch a rematch of the 2009 State Class B Championship.
