Game 35: Monday , July 25
Prior Lake 7 - Shakopee 0 Since clinching the #2 seed in Section 3 last Friday, the Indians are finding themselves in a tough stretch of games of late in the dog days of summer. Instead of getting things geared up for playoffs on a good note, the local nine are struggling to get guys to the park and finding enough arms to pitch 9 innings. The only conversation in the dugout is about who will be able to make the next game and who is physically capable of throwing a pitch on the mound. The dog days of summer have definitely hit home for the Shakopee Indians. The locals took the field Monday night to take on the Prior Lake Jays. The Jays were happy to be back at "The Joe" often commenting on "how cool the air temperature always is in Shakopee" or "how easy it is to see the ball" or other great compliments. None related to the nicely manicured grass though as that is always better at "The Vet". The Jays obviously felt comfortable at the plate tonight tallying 17 hits against three Indian position players asked to try to pitch. Aaron Olson stepped up first and tossed four innings allowing 4 runs (2 earned). The Jays tagged Zack Bohar for 2 runs in the 5th but struck out the side in the 6th. Bohar gave way to Curt Hartfiel in the 7th who allowed just a run in 3 innings. Offensively, there is nearly nothing to mention. In the 2nd, the Indians were the first team to threaten to score. Brannon Weigel singled, John Hellkamp walked and Hartfiel singled sharply to load the bases. But that's where they would stay. In the 3rd, the Jays scored 4 times to take the lead for good. The Tribe gets one more shot at the section 4 powerhouse Prior Lake Jays tomorrow. It's Prior Lake alumni night and rumor has it Tex Chapman will be leaving the coaches box in exchange for manning the grill flipping burgers. Come on out to see the Indians and the last regular season game of 2011.
