Game 2 of 3 this year between the Indians and Jays. Again the Indians struck first on a solo homerun by Troy Wasiloski in the second inning. Wasiloski’s second in as many days. In the third inning, Shakopee tallied two more runs. Jeremy Imker walked to lead off the inning and Joey Heller doubled Imker home. Curt Hartfiel then singled to score Heller and the tribe was up 3-0 in the third.

Meanwhile, Chris Rupert got the start for Shakopee and was dealing on the hill in the early innings. Rupert didn’t allow a runner to reach base until the 4th inning. Prior Lake scored an unearned run in the 4th. But Shakopee answered in the bottom half as Kyle Hoover joined the home run race drilling a solo homerun to put the home team up 4-1. In the 5th and 6th innings Shakopee would add another run to put the score at 6-1.

Rupert worked through six innings still in control of the game. But Prior Lake finally got to him in the 7th. A hit batter and a double put runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Both those runners would score on groundouts to make the score a little closer at 6-3. In the 8th Rupert gave way to Kyle Green who worked a 1-2-3 8th but ran into trouble in the 9th. KG allowed one unearned run to score after a hit batter, a wild pitch and some shaky defense led to a mini rally from the Jays offense. But, Green closed the door getting the last out on a swinging third strike to end the threat and the game with the bases loaded.

Joey Heller was the offensive star going 5-5 with four singles and a double on the night. Wasiloski and Jeremy Imker tallied two-hit nights.
