1948 Shakopee State Amateur Baseball Tournament!
To Anyone Interested;

Many of you may have heard, but if not, I will fill you in...

Through the courtesy of Mr. Warren Stemmer, who was a member of the Shakopee Amateur Baseball Team in 1948, I have obtained a very old 16mm film of the 1948 Minnesota Amateur State Baseball Tournament, which was held at the old "Riverside Park" in Shakopee. The film is approximately 22 minutes in length, in great shape, and was even in color for the first 15 minutes or so! Also, we just discovered that there was a "partial" audio track on the film, which consists of three songs scattered on the film... including a very old rendition of "Take Me Out To The Ballgame"!

Mr. Stemmer gave his consent and allowed me to transfer the film onto a digital format, and then make copies of the film in both VHS and DVD format!

We are now taking orders, and selling the videos as a fundraiser - with the proceeds going to the Shakopee Youth Baseball's effort to construct a new baseball field/facility at Tahpah Park in Shakopee!

If you, or someone you know, is interested in purchasing one of these VHS tapes (suggested $20.00 donation) or DVD's (suggested $25.00 donation), you may place your order with either Michele Dahl at (952)445-4473 or michele.dahl@tennantco.com or with me (Bill Schleper) at (952)496-1402 or bschleper@prodigy.net . Checks can be made out to "SYBA" (or Shakopee Youth Baseball Association). Please include extra $$ if you want your mailed to you!

Teams that are seen on this video include the 1948 AA State Champions from Albert Lea, along with Belle Plaine, Excelsior, Winsted, Lester Prairie, Minneapolis, and, of course, Shakopee.

Some of the players who appear on the film, include Warren Stemmer, "Rip" Schroeder, Gordy Gelhaye, Dick Siebert, Tom Berens, Earl Dressen, Jack Dressen, Allen Theis, Bucky Cavanaugh, Don Scherer, Clarence Czaia, and many others!

Please place your orders soon, so we have some idea of how many to make!

We will also be selling them and/or taking orders at some of the remaining SHS and Shakopee Town Team baseball games this summer!

Please help spread the word, and let's promote SHAKOPEE BASEBALL!

Sincerely,

Bill Schleper
